CURTIS LEE "CURLY" GILL A celebration of life open house for Curtis Lee Gill will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Curly was born January 3, 1926 in Pine Bluff, Ark. and he passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. On May 4, 1972, Curly married Peggy Jean Burling in Cortez. He thoroughly loved cutting wood. In his 20's Curley began a career in logging. He then went on to become a diesel mechanic for Fraley Propane. Curly was chopping wood right up to his passing. He enjoyed sharpening the chains on his saw and tinkering with small engine repair. Curly graciously donated to St. Jude Hospital for over 30 years. Surviving Curly are his children, Randy Gill of Mesa, Ariz., Lee Gill of Austin, Tex., Douglas Gill of Aurora, Colo., Michelle Earthly (Andre) of El Paso, Tex., Linda Beseler of Vernal, Utah, Gary Cross of Heber City, Utah, Janice Martinez (Richard McClellan) of Cortez, and Ricky Cross (Judy) of Delta, Colo.; and by 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Curly was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and LuElla Gill; his wife; and his siblings, Ike Gill, Freddy Myers, Willie Niles, Lonnie London, Lavern Gill, Sammy Johnson, and Iona Gill-Savage. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Curley's honor.
