Clifford O'Dell 'Cliff' Capps

Funeral services for Cortez resident Clifford O’dell ‘Cliff’ Capps will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Greenwood Cemetery in Wichita, KS.
Clifford O’dell Capps, age 61, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, February 24, 2022.
Cliff was born October 10, 1960 in DeWitt, AR the son of Lester O’dell and Viola (Mannis) Capps. Cliff and his sister, Karen (Capps) Price were raised and attended school in Gillett, AR. As a young boy Cliff loved to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors but his favorite hobby was working. He was an accomplished duck caller and helped his father guide duck hunts when he was just seven years old. Cliff guided high profile clients including, the former Governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton. Cliff got his first job at the ripe old age of nine years old cleaning fish for local fisherman. Cliff graduated from DeWitt High School in 1979. He married Tonya (Case) Capps on August 20, 1982 and the two of them shared 39 fun-filled years of marriage. They were blessed with one son, Kip O’dell Capps, and one daughter, Mitzi Janae (Capps) LaRue. His children and their spouses, Dustin LaRue and Tabitha (Fowler) Capps, further blessed Cliff with three ornery grandsons, Racy LaRue (7), Kingston Capps (6), and Case Capps (3) with whom he cherished spending time spoiling, wrestling and watching them grow.
Cliff was a loving husband, father, and Pappy. He was adored by his family as well as loved and respected by the community that he served. He will be fondly remembered for his love of God, his unwavering commitment to his family, care for his brethren, extraordinary work ethic, and contagious, one of a kind laugh.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Viola Capps; and his father-in-law, Glenn Case. He is survived by his wife, Tonya Capps of Cortez, CO; his son, Kip Capps and wife, Tabitha of Wichita, KS; his daughter, Mitzi LaRue and husband, Dustin of Wichita, KS; his sister, Karen Price and husband, Harold of Rison, AR; and his three grandchildren, Racy LaRue, Kingston Capps, and Case Capps.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Cliff Capps Memorial Fund at 1st National Bank in Cortez, CO.
