CLIFFORD CARL FOSSUM Clifford Carl Fossum, long time resident of Dolores and Cortez, Colorado passed away April 30th, 2004. He was born March 6th, 1947 in Cass Lake, Minnesota. Cliff is survived by his wife, Carmen Tenney; brother, Martin Fossum and his family; wife Maureen; children, Emily, Erik and Samuel; his Aunt, Beverly Salo and cousins Twylla Chant, Brian Salo and Karla Wheeler. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Einar and Mabel Fossum. An attorney since 1975, Cliff served communities in the Four Corners Region, including Cortez, Dolores, Dove Creek, Mancos, Rico and Telluride. His practice over the last twenty-nine years included municipal, utility, banking, real estate and corporate law. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, the University of North Dakota School of Law with a Juris Doctor, and Thunderbird, American Graduate School of International Management with a Master of Business Administration. Most recently, Cliff worked as a consultant in the Rural Electric Cooperative community. During his lifetime, Cliff was an avid hiker, skier, photographer, pilot and amateur radio enthusiast. He was an Eagle Scout and at the age of twelve, was one of the youngest recipients of an advanced ham radio license, K0DLE. In honor of Cliff's life, a memorial fund supporting the Dolores Library District has been established with the First National Bank of Cortez: Drawer A, Cortez, Colorado 81321. The community is cordially invited to a reception celebrating Cliff's life on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 from 4-6 p.m., 140 W. First Street, Cortez. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2004 at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, 302 Elm Avenue, Northwest, Cass Lake, Minnesota 56633.
