CLAUD ERNEST MASLEN Graveside services for longtime area resident, Claud Ernest Maslen will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at the Cahone Cemetery. His grandson, Tucker Palmer will be officiating. A visitation has been scheduled Wednesday morning at the Ertel Memorial Chapel from 9 a.m. until noon. Claud was born on January 25, 1911 in El Dorado Springs, Mo. the son of George Elijah and Rose Maude (Duncan) Maslen. He passed away on Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Golden Years Retirement Home in Cortez at the age of 94. In 1928 Claud moved to Colorado. On January 25, 1934 in Monticello, Utah he married Ruthie Jewel Stanford. With this union four children were born. Claud was a joking fellow who enjoyed teasing and making you laugh. His humor stayed with him clear until the end, as he would make faces at the nurses taking care of him. In his younger years he was a member of the B.P.O.E., loved fishing, hunting and gardening. Surviving Claud are his daughters, Dolores M. Johnson, Eloise L. James and Donna M. Palmer and husband, John; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren; as well as his siblings, Grace Randell and Homer Maslen. Preceding Claud in death were his parents; his wife, Jewel Maslen; his son, Gene Maslen; granddaughter, Sherri Johnson; and great-granddaughter, Tara Johnson.
