CLARA JANE WHARTON Memorial services for longtime Naturita resident Clara Jane Wharton will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 2 at Dove Creek First Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Farren and Mark Bucher will officiate. Clara Jane Wharton was born December 1, 1912 in Everest, Kans. the daughter of Jesse Louis and Mary Elizabeth (Greer) Mathena. She passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. on January 27, 2009 at the age of 96. Surviving Clara are her son, Robert VanSell and wife, Janice of Naturita, Colo.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth Farris of Wilmington, Ohio. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred Wayne Wharton; and her children, Glen N. VanSell and Glenda VanSell.
