CHRISTMAS T. “CHRIS” PARR Funeral services for Cortez resident, Christmas T. “Chris” Parr will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 16 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date. Reverend Lyn Evans will be officiating. A visitation has been scheduled for Thursday evening at the Ertel Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Chris was born on December 25, 1919 in Dongola, Illinois the son of Lionel and Esta Murl (Niblock) Parr. He passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 85. On August 16, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nev. Chris married Patricia Lenore Hale. With this union two children were born. Chris was a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel who later went into the Real estate industry. He became the director of the California Real estate Association for eight years, was a past President for the Downey Board of Realtors, and past Vice-President of the Downey, Calif. Chamber of Commerce. Surviving Chris are his wife, Pat Parr of Cortez and Buena Park, Calif.; his son, Charles Michael Parr of Cortez; grandchildren, Leslie Ray Walgreen and Chris Patrick Walgreen both of Chicago; his great-grandchildren, Drew, Conner and Duncan Walgreen; and his siblings, Lionel J. Parr of Hammond, Ind., Luther Parr of Jonesboro, Ill., and Thelma Moake of Cypress, Ill. Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Donna Walgreen; and six brothers and sisters.
