Chester Cuthair was born on November 24th 1945 and left us on May 7th, 2023. He lived an adventurous 77 years. He grew up in Towaoc, CO and relocated to Shiprock, NM for 43 years. He attended San Juan College for the automotive program and earned his certificate, where he eventually became an instructor.
In his early years he was a stock car racer, a fireline fire fighter, as a mechanic for the Ford company, a Ute Mountain tribal mechanic, and a foreman for Weeminuche Construction Authority. His hobbies included: working on cars, hunting, fishing, welding, construction projects, gardening, casino and of course spending time with family. He loved being outdoors.
Chester is preceded in death by his wife Laura Lee, who he was married to for 38 years. His mother Cecilia Cuthair, his father Ira Cuthair. Brothers Walter Coyote, Wayne Cuthair, Arthur Cuthair, Edsen Lauren Cuthair. Sisters MaryJane Lonebear and Victoria Cuthair.
He is survived by his daughters Monica Cuthair, Kristina Lee, Mercedes Cuthair, Sonya Cuthair, Krystle Cuthair. Siblings Veronica Cuthair, Bernadette Cuthair, Beverly Whiteskunk. Also including 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, as well as extended family.
