CHERYL JEAN LANER Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident Cheryl Jean Laner will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 14 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at Towaoc Cemetery. Cheryl was born on April 27, 1970 in Cortez to Sarah Hayes and Raymus Laner Sr. She passed away at her residence on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the age of 39. Cheryl attended school in Cortez. She enjoyed fishing, football, playing pool and being with friends and family. She especially loved the Raiders football team. Surviving Cheryl are her mother, Sarah Hayes and husband, Rick of Towaoc; her siblings, Raymus Laner Jr., Nancy and Kevin Duncan, Troy and Timothy Parker Jr., Eugena and Kerwin Tom Sr., all of Towaoc, Tina and Nathaniel Castillo of Shiprock; many nieces and nephews; and her aunts, Wanda Deer and Shirley Deer of Towaoc. Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Laner and Katie Deer; by her father, Raymus Laner Sr.; by her brother, Duane Laner; and by her aunt, Rosie Laner.
