Cheri Gay Johnson

CHERI GAY JOHNSON

   Cheri Gay Johnson was born September 7, 1955 in Cortez, Colorado. She is the daughter of Ronald Brue and Cheryl Ann (Greenlee) Hover. She passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at her residence at the age of 68.

  Surviving Cheri are her mother, Cheryl McCutcheon of Cortez; her son, Chris Kermode of Cortez; her brothers, Richard Fryhover (Susan) of Cortez, and Rick Hover (Toni) of Dolores; her fiancé, Bill Reichelt of Cortez; and her three grandchildren, Destyni, Steven, and Cheriann. She was preceded in death by her father; and young son, Farin.

  Prior to settling into a career in health care, Cheri worked as a bartender, realtor, and escrow officer. She completed an Associates of Art Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, later completing a Bachelor of Science Degree as a Registered Nurse. She was the director of the Certified Nursing Assistant Training for Pueblo Community College in Mancos and later assumed the position as college wide Nurse Aide Training Program Coordinator.
   Cheri will always be remembered for her joy and passion for life. She had a wonderful sense of humor and when with friends and family was always the light and fire to whom everyone was drawn. Cheri will sorely be missed by all who loved her.
