Charles Richard Rietz, known as ‘Chuck’, was a resident of Mancos, CO. He passed away March 12, 2022 in the hospital due to complications of his heart.
Chuck was born to Helen Agnes Lagal Rietz and Richard Fredrick Rietz July 26, 1942 in Oak Park, IL as an only child. To Chuck, his parents were always the greatest two people on the face of the earth. Loving, caring, knowledgeable, wise and righteous—they enthusiastically exposed him to their many friends and family, announcing him as their most wonderful child that could ever be! Chuck was quick to make close friends, probably to make up for the lack of siblings, and it has been so all his life, many close and good friends. In his words, ‘I cherish everyone. Friends are forever and the joy of life.’
Chuck was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was eager to share the gospel with many. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1965 with a Bachelor degree in Business & Finance. He developed many talents throughout his life including playing the trumpet, diving, gymnastics, water-skiing and snow-skiing, to name a few. He was big-hearted and loved to help others. His energy and outlook were always optimistic, fun-loving, and determined. He inspired many through great communication and kindness. He loved his country, family, friends, life-long learning, entrepreneurship, sports, music, scholastics, travel, and cars. He was a beloved son, husband, father, friend, and was a servant to mankind. He was always faithful to God, even through adversity.
Surviving Chuck are his son, Scott Charles Rietz and grandson Anthony Scott Rietz; his son, Kevin Hollis Rietz (aka Joseph Parenteau); his daughter, Christiana Ellen Martin (Joshua) and grandsons Lot Abram, Levi Matthew, Jacob Charles, and Malakai James; his youngest daughter, Heather Rebecca Rietz. His family is his legacy.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mancos, CO.
