CHARLES MATHIAS GOLDSMITH Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Charles Mathias Goldsmith will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 7 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pastor David Ramsey will be officiating. A reception for family and friends has been planned following the service at the Rock Springs Community Church in Cortez. Military graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10 at the Chatfield Community Cemetery in Chatfield, Minn. A visitation has been scheduled for Saturday morning at the Ertel Memorial Chapel from 8 a.m. until Noon. Charlie was born on August 29, 1932 in Chatfield, Fillmore County, Minn., the son of John William and Dora Myrtle (Oviatt) Goldsmith. He passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the New Mexico Heart Hospital in Albuquerque. Charlie was 71 years old. A retired Air Force Veteran, Charlie spent his military career as an Air Force Technical Sergeant. He was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E., and the V.F.W. in both Colorado and Minnesota. Surviving him are “Charlie’s Angels”, Emily Wofford and husband, Mike of Culver, Ore., Margaret Leeder and husband, Matt of Durango, Georgia Stanley and husband, Gary, Debra Ramsey and husband, Burt all of Cortez; as well as his grandchildren, Kyni, Kolton, Kymber Wofford, T.J., Tessa, Tenille Leeder, Ronica, Reece, Rylee Stanley, Jacquelyn, and Jasmine Ramsey. Many nieces and nephews in the Minnesota area also survive Charlie. Preceding him in death were his parents.
