CHARLES MARVIN “CHUCK” WATSON Charles Marvin “Chuck” Watson was born on September 9, 1919 in Hoboken, N.J. He passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at his home in Cortez at the age of 87. In 1937, Chuck met his wife, Mary Maxey while working with the Conservation Corps at Mesa Verde National Park. After being married in Monticello, Utah they went on to enjoy 52 years of marriage. Chuck was a 32nd Degree Mason who spent 40 years as a hard rock miner. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, singing and dancing. When he was younger, Chuck liked playing baseball. Surviving Chuck are his children Gerald Watson and wife, Joleen of Pueblo, Colo., and Becky Bennett and husband, Earl of Crawford, Colo.; his significant other of seven years, Annie Romero of Cortez; his siblings, Edna Hayden and husband, Lewis of Texas, and James Watson of Arvada, Colo.; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Watson; and his son, Lynn Watson. Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment service will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
