Charles Lester (Chub) Myers was born May 18, 1933, in Egnar, Colorado to Martha Alice Snyder Myers Bradfield and Claude William Myers.
Chub was a hard worker and always busy at something. He wore many hats and could do anything. He always said, "Even if I didn't know how to do something I would never admit it." He could always learn and he did. His dad passed away when he was 5 years old, so his mother was both a mom and dad. She did a wonderful job. He started working when he was 8 years old helping his parents cow puncher friends. They helped him grow up to be a cowboy. Well not really a cowboy, but a cowpuncher. He says a cowpuncher takes care of cattle on the range. He loved it and was a good cowpuncher.
In the 1960's he was a mechanic and truck driver. He was under sheriff under Bob Johnson and Deputy Marshall under Leonard Higgins. He worked as safety engineer for Union Carbide for 29 years having to retire due to a heart attack. He served on the Town Board, Health Clinic board school board and a retired volunteer fireman. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On October 20, 1952, he married Wilma Delano. They had 66 1/2 years of mostly wedded bliss.
Chub is preceded in death by his mother Martha Bradfield, his father Claude William Myers, his brother Howard Myers and his sister Hazel Tewell. Chub is survived by his wife Wilma, son Tom (Pamela) Myers of Cahone, CO; daughter Barbara (Joe) Saunders of Dove Creek, CO; son Claude (Pam) Myers of Winnemucca, NV; sister Dorthy McCullough of Albuquerque, NM; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made in Chub’s name to the Dove Creek Ambulance, PO Box 825, Dove Creek, CO 81324; or to the Pioneer Center, PO Box 678, Dove Creek, CO 81324.
