CHARLES E. "CHARLIE" FITZGERALD JR. Charles E. "Charlie" Fitzgerald Jr. was born August 2, 1929 in Mancos to Charles E. Fitzgerald Sr. and Beaulah O. (Wilson) Fitzgerald. He passed away at his home in Aztec, M.M. on February 19, 2010 at the age of 80 years old. Charlie is survived by his sister, Patsy Brothers of Pueblo, Colo.; his daughter, Debi Halls and husband, Coke of Mancos; his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Nova Smouse of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; by his sons, Denny and Mike Fitzgerald; and by his granddaughter, Amber Belle Fitzgerald. Charlie told great stories, never met a stranger, and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He had many jobs and hobbies in his lifetime. As a young man, Charlie was a cowboy and always was at heart. He was a coal miner, was in the CB's during the Korean War, was a dispatcher and hauled ore for CB Johnson Trucking. Charlie cooked professionally both for family owned and personally owned restaurants. He was a professional truck driver for many years. Charlie loved all animals and was a good horse trainer, and was a talented silversmith and he made beautiful jewelry. Charlie was a great "Dad" and loved his family dearly. He will be truly missed. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned per his request.
