CHARLES DAVID KARDOKUS JR. Funeral services for former area resident and current Montrose resident Charles David Kardokus Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Charles David Kardokus Jr. was born December 26, 1931 on a homestead near Colony, Okla. His parents were Charles David Kardokus Sr. and Minnie Belle (Kruger) Kardokus. He went home to glory on September 29, 2013 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 3 days. He accepted the Lord as his Saviour at the age of six, was baptized in a stock tank and was a life-long member of the Foursquare Church. On December 21, 1952 he married Wilma Palmer in Cortez, Colo. and to this union God gave four children, Daniel, Mark, Melanie and Dennis; six grandchildren, Teresa, David, Vickie, Robert, Michelle and Lexie; eight great grandchildren, Khriztopher, Deion, Kyra, Kole, Kiana, Kaela, Nellie and Marley Jo. Charles was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and Mark; one great grandchild, Nellie; his parents; and only sister, Augusta Harvey. He was an ordained minister with the Foursquare Church, in 2006 receiving his 50 year pin, and later had Charlie's Landscaping and Lawn Service as a second vocation. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Wilma of 60 years; daughter, Melanie Cox (Pat); son, Dennis Kardokus (Charlotte); six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five nephews, many cousins, a host of friends; and of course his furry friend, Scamper. Charles was a man of integrity and compassion. He will be sorely missed. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Charles Kardokus Jr. with Gideons International.
