Carol Lynn Majors, longtime resident of Dolores, passed away April 4, 2017 at the age of 78. Carol was the born August 18, 1938 to A.E. and Francis Calhoon in Elkhart, Kan. After graduation from Grand Junction High School, Carol attended Mesa College where she met her husband, Don. Upon Don's graduation from college the couple returned to Don's hometown of Dolores. Carol fell in love with her new hometown and adapted quickly to ranch living. She loved spending time at the family ranch at Groundhog and was very fond of taking long walks while capturing scenery and wildlife with her camera. Later in life, the true joy of Carol's life was her five granddaughters. Carol enjoyed spending time with them and teaching them her amazing cooking skills. She also loved going to the girls' school and sporting activities where she could always be seen cheering them on. Carol is survived by her two sons, Chris and wife, Rhonda of Dolores and Rod and Amy of Lewis; her granddaughters, Kalysha, Josie and Tatum of Dolores and Sidnie and Rylee of Lewis. She is also survived by her sister, Lucy Baker of Denver. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Don and by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Don and Carol Majors Memorial Scholarship Fund at Dolores State Bank. At Carol's request there will be no services.
