CAROL JEANNE NEVIUS MIKKELSON Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Carol Jeanne Nevius Mikkelson will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel on Empire Street. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday morning beginning at 9 a.m. until service time in the Relief Society Room at the LDS church. Carol was born on May 18, 1927 in Oklahoma the daughter of Ray and Zell Christine (Edgar) Nevius. She passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at her home in Cortez at the age of 78. A dedicated wife, mother and homemaker Carol loved her family and friends dearly. She had many interests including reading, genealogy, antiques and collectables, Indian history, artwork, jewelry, and growing and exhibiting county fair roses. Surviving Carol are her husband, W.H. “Mike” Mikkelson; her children, Michael Mark Mikkelson both of Cortez, and Christi Nevius Mikkelson-Bearss of Georgetown, Tex.; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, as well as two great great-grandchildren that are on their way. Preceding her in death were her parents; and three sisters.
