CARLOS JAIME MARTINEZ Funeral services for Carlos Jaime Martinez, 21 of Cortez, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20 at Parque de Vida with Father Derrek D. Scott officiating. Seating is limited at the gazebo so guests are asked to bring a chair. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Rosary services will be held Monday evening beginning at 7 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Carlos was born the son of Horacio Martinez and Carmen Gallegos on Feb. 7, 1984 in Durango, Colo. He passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005 near Hesperus, Colo. An employee of Mesa Verde National Park, Carlos aided visiting tourists in many different capacities. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed being able to camp and fish and liked playing basketball. Surviving Carlos are his mother, Carmen Gallegos of Cortez; his father and step-mother, Horacio and Eva Martinez of Cortez; grandparents, Sevando and Egripina Martinez and Adonais Gallegos all of Cortez; four sisters, Leticia Mark, Amy Caro Martinez, Adrianna Martinez, and Monique Smith all of Cortez; one brother, J.J. Smith of Cortez; his nephew, Adrian Mark; one niece; many cousins, aunts, and uncles; and a very special cousin, Atreyu McClure. His grandmother, Mary T. Gallegos, preceded him in death. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Carlos Martinez at the First National Bank of Cortez.
