Cal Rickel

CLARENCE JOHN RICKEL Memorial services for Clarence John "Cal" Rickel will be held at a later date. Cal was born on December 1, 1919 in Mandan, N.D. the son of Clarence Earl and Otilia Clarenca (Strand) Rickel. He passed away at his home in Cortez on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the age of 95. Working primarily in the construction industry, Cal will be remembered as a prominant local businessman. He was a true Entrepreneur. During his spare time Cal was an avid reader. On March 11, 1961 Cal married Amanda Mae Blair. They spent 53 years together. Surviving Cal are his beloved wife, Amanda Mae Rickel of Cortez; his children, Janice Ricki Parres of Oxnard, Calif., Billie Atkinson and husband, Moss of Dolores, Kenny Hinton and wife, Kim of Cortez, and Susan M. Rickel of Glenwood Springs, Colo. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Cal in death are his parents, Clarence and Otilia Rickel; two brothers and one sister.
