CHARLES RAY “C.R.” HOFFMAN Funeral services for lifelong Dolores resident, Charles Ray Hoffman will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 1, at the Rock Springs Community Church. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Thursday evening at the Ertel Memorial Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. C.R. was born on February 12, 1935 in Cortez the son of Samuel Edward and Mae Elizabeth (Maness) Hoffman. He passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 69. In 1954 C.R. enlisted in the Air Force and served his country during the Korean Conflict. On May 29, 1954 in Amarillo, Tex. C.R. married Ruth Humpherys. With this union three children were born. C.R. owned and operated B&H Lumber for many years. He had a passion for restoring old Ford cars and trucks. C.R. also enjoyed fishing and hunting at his cabin at Groundhog. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. lodge #1789. Surviving C.R. are his wife, Ruth Hoffman of Dolores; his children, Kathie S. Ledford, Vernon Hoffman and wife, Dyanna, and Wesley Hoffman all of Cortez. He leaves six grandchildren, Mitchell Hoffman, Monique Hoffman, Dylan Hoffman, Cecillia Ledford, Brandi Miller and Natasha Ledford; and one great-granddaughter, Jocelynn Ledford. His three sisters, Marie Godfrey and husband, Earl of Cortez, Pauline Riley of Nampa, Ida., and Freeda Stapleton and husband, Al of Farmington, N.M. also survive C.R. Preceding him in death were his parents. Memorial contributions can be made in C.R.’s name at the Dolores State Bank.
