BOBBY GENE 'BOB' GOSNELL Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident, Bobby Gene 'Bob' Gosnell will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2005 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Empire Street in Cortez. Inurnment services will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. The Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75 will be conducting military graveside services. A visitation has been scheduled for Thursday evening at the Ertel Memorial Chapel from 12 noon until 5 p.m. Bob was born on December 27, 1929 in Cushing, Okla. the son of Hurshell William and Lela Elnora (Isenberg) Gosnell. He passed away on Monday, September 26, 2005 in Cortez at the age of 75. After graduating in 1947 from Montezuma Cortez High School; Bob later enlisted in the Army in 1950. After honorably being discharged in 1952 Bob went to work with his father; thus learning the trade of Dry Wall and finishing and making this skill his profession. Keeping the business in the family he worked with his brothers, son and grandson. He was well-regarded for his work ethic. When he wasn’t working, Bob loved to bowl, golf, hunt and play horseshoes. He belonged to the Men’s Golf Association, the National Men’s Bowling Association, and enjoyed both bow and rifle hunting seasons. Surviving Bob are his lifetime partner, Carolyn Goodall of Cortez; his children, Beverly Reese and husband, Ben, Valerie Jordan and husband, Randy all of Farmington, N.M., Don Stevenson of Mancos, and Stacey Rowe and husband, Shannon of Flora Vista, N.M. He leaves 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Dorsa Martin and husband, Wilbur of Bloomfield, N.M., Billy Gosnell and wife, Sue of Cortez, Carolyn Hubble and husband, Alfred of Cushing, Okla., Donna Tanner and husband, Leon of Cortez, and Hurshell Gosnell, Jr., and wife, Kathy of Cushing, Okla. His lifelong buddies Ted Baskett, Tim Eddy and Sid Powell are also left to mourn his passing. Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Ronald G. Gosnell; his sister and brother, Patricia Gosnell and Don Gosnell.
