Billy Jerrold Higgins

Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident, Billy Jerrold Higgins, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mancos, Colo. Billy was born on July 12, 1949 in Cortez, Colo. the son of Allen Denton and Louise Margueritte (Miller) Higgins. Billy passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Southwest Memorial Hospital, Cortez at the age of 66. Billy spent years employed as a custodian with the Montezuma Cortez RE-1 School District. During his younger years, Billy enjoyed playing softball. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping old western movies, and he enjoyed country two-step dancing. Billy is survived by his children, Amber Higgins, Andy Higgins both of Cortez, Colo. and Aaryn Millard (Billy) of Dolores, Colo.; his step-children, Corrina Bundy of Nevada, Ray Bundy of Cortez, Colo., Bruce Bundy of Durango, Colo., Kenny Bundy, Jasper Hurst and Crystal Hurst all of Cortez, Colo.; his siblings, Millard Higgins (Joylene), Revis Higgins, D. Royce Higgins, Ervil Higgins (Susie), Don Higgins (Jeanie), Myrle Higgins (Terri) and Arvita Higgins; and his numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Louise Higgins, his wife, Patricia (Baker) Higgins and his brother, Virgil Higgins.
