BILLY BYRON TATE Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident, Billy Byron Tate will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 28 at the Indoor Arena at Billy’s residence, located at 16900 C.R. 20 in Cortez. Billy was born on July 9, 1964 in Cortez the son of Byron F. and Judy Carolyn (Nielson) Tate. He passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2005 in rural Cortez at the age of 40. Billy was a local horse trainer and stable owner for many years. Surviving Billy are his wife, Jody Tate of Cortez; his children, Ashley Brianne Tate of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Chance William Tate of Cortez; his step-daughter, Shaylin Todeschi of Cortez; and grandson, Kage Chance Tate of Sierra Vista, Ariz. He leaves his maternal grandparents, Bill and Gean Nielson of Dolores; his paternal grandmother, Arveda Bruce of Cortez; his sister, Carolyn Chandler and husband, Foy of Arriola; and his two nieces, Brittney and Brandi Chandler both of Arriola. Memorial contributions can be made in Billy’s name at either branch of the Dolores State Bank.
