BILLIE KEITH "BILL" FISCHER Graveside services for Dolores resident Billie Keith "Bill" Fischer will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 3 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Montezuma County V.F.W. Post #5231. Visitation has been scheduled for Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Bill was born August 31, 1926 in Taft, Calif. the son of Ed and Liza Fischer. He passed away at his residence on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the age of 86. Bill moved to Cedaredge, Colo. as a child with his family. He attended school in Cedaredge and graduated from high school there. Bill was a World War II Veteran having served his country in the United States Navy from 1944-1947. He was a Boatswin Mate. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Jean Cook on August 14, 1947. He began his career with the Division of Wildlife in 1953 in Durango. Bill was transferred to Dolores in 1954 as a Game Warden and he held that position for 31 years. After retirement Bill worked a number of summers with the Forest Service. Bill was a devout Christian and family man and was known for his keen sense of humor. Surviving Bill are his three children, Sherry, Mike and Pat all of Dolores; by his five grandsons, Aaron Holton and wife, Becky of Tucson, Ariz., Andrew Holton and wife, Jessi of Tucson, Ariz., Jerod Holton of Las Vegas, Nev., Zane Fischer of Dolores, and Nate Fischer of Denver, Colo.; six great-grandchildren; and by two brothers, Dick Fischer and wife, Jean and Ron Fischer and wife, Diane. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jean Fischer; by an infant son; by his parents, Ed and Liza Fischer; and by two brothers, Vernon and Eddy Fischer.
