BEVERLY RUTH “BEV” WOOD Funeral services for longtime Egnar, Colo. resident Beverly Ruth “Bev” Wood will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 27 at the Dove Creek First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Dove Creek Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Bev was born on November 20, 1931 in Quail, Tex. the daughter of James Floyd and Glennis Ardena (Atkinson) Daves. She passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at her residence at the age of 76. Bev attended high school in Dolores County and went on to college at Western State in Gunnison. She graduated with a degree in education. Bev taught in the Egnar Public School from 1952 until her retirement in 1984. On May 25, 1952, Bev married Bert Raymond Wood in Dove Creek. Bev enjoyed attending church and going to ball games. She loved to talk on the phone. Bev felt that being a grandmother was the “greatest gift in the world.” Surviving Bev are her children, Tom Wood and wife, Vicki of Egnar, and Dale Wood and wife, Mary Louise of Laramie, Wyo.; her grandchildren, Quincy L. Wood, Talia M. Wood, Beth Wood, and Billy Wood; and her siblings, Earlene White, Marlin Daves, Wayne Daves, Nelda Kay Daves, Eddie Daves, Woodie Daves, Stanley Daves, and Linda Rehmert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; her parents; her grandson, James Wood; and her siblings, Sue Dunagun, James Daves, and Bobby Joe Daves. Memorial contributions may be made in Bev’s name to Hospice of Montezuma.
