Beulah Darlene King

BEULAH DARLENE KING Graveside services for Beulah Darlene King, a longtime Cortez resident will be held at 2 p.m. December 31 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Beulah was born November 1, 1931 in Baca County, Colo. the daughter of Union and Lettie (Smith) Pridemore. She passed away at her home on Monday, December 29, 2008 at the age of 77. On June 30, 1955 Beulah married Jimmie Wayne King in Aztec, N.M. Beulah waitressed at El Grande Caf for a number of years prior to her and Jim purchasing the caf and operating it as a team for 12 years. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting and quilting as well as working crossword puzzles. Surviving Beulah are her husband of 53 years, Jimmie King of Cortez; four daughters, Sharon Lindsay and husband, Kent of Cortez, Gisele Porter and husband, Nate of Lewis, Yvonne King-Alexander and husband, Jimmy of Cortez and Glenda Alexander and husband, Woody also of Cortez; by seven grandchildren, Cristie Porter, Meranda Schwatken and husband, Erik, Brandon Porter and wife, Tonya, Matthew Lindsay, Justin Lindsay, Linn Alexander and Kyle Alexander; and by four great grandchildren, Katherine Beulah Schwatken, Levi Porter, Vega Schwatken, and Evangline Porter. Also surviving Beulah are two sisters, Ester Pridemore of Durango, Colo. and Reola Hawley of Mesa, Ariz. Preceding Beulah in death are her parents; and her siblings, Peggy Dufur, Wilmer Pridemore, Jean Thompson and Floyd Pridemore.
