BETTY LOUISE NEAL Funeral services for longtime area resident, Betty Louise Neal will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 16 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Reverends Steve and Kim Nofel will be officiating. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Ertel Chapel from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Betty was born on July 26, 1917 in Twin Falls, Idaho the daughter of John Guy and Ava (Ismay) Kilpatrick. She passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 88. When Betty was 19 months old, the family moved to Mancos and lived behind the Catholic church. In 1941, when she was 14, Betty’s family moved north of Cortez where her father farmed. She then went on to grow up at the old Ismay Trading Post south of Cortez near the Casino. She helped her sister get through Nurse’s Training. Betty later married Gerald Alba Neal and became a dedicated homemaker. She loved her whole family dearly. Her grandchildren were especially important. Betty raised African Violets and belonged to several local organizations. She was a member of the Lake View Harmony Club, Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star, a former 4-H Leader and Judge and the Farm Bureau. Surviving Betty are her children, Duane Neal and wife, Orvillena, Lynn Neal and wife, Paula all of Dolores, Richard Neal and Barbara Hall of Twin Falls, Ida. She leaves 16 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gerald Neal; and her sister, Dorothy Pagone.
