A Celebration of Life will be held for Cortez resident Betty LaDawn Gano from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Ertel Memorial Chapel.
Betty was born August 31, 1947 in Denver, CO and adopted by her loving parents, Vernon Fred and Alita Jane (Peterson) Gano. Betty passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at her residence at the age of 72.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Colorado, living in Dove Creek, Egnar, Grand Junction and Cortez where she was always able to build lifelong friendships. Her compassionate personality was infectious. Although Betty held various occupations and hobbies her passion was quilting. According to her one of her greatest accomplishments was to sew a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren.
Surviving Betty are her two sons, Roger Wayne Knuckles and his girlfriend Mindy of Nucla, CO and Vernon Edward Knuckles and his wife Wendy of Yellow Jacket, CO. Six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Norma Gano of Arizona; three nieces and two nephews from her biological family’s side in which she recently found and established a lasting relationship; as well as numerous other extended family members.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
