Betty Jean Cox

August 15, 1945 — May 17, 2012

BETTY JEAN ROBB COX Funeral services for Betty J. Cox will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mancos on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery south of Mancos. Following internment there will be a luncheon and a celebration of her life at the Mancos Fire and Rescue Station in Mancos. Betty Jean Robb Cox passed from this life into the next on Thursday morning, May 17, 2012, after a valiant two year battle with cancer at the age of 66. Her husband Lyle was by her side. Betty was born in Durango, Colorado on August 15, 1945 to Milton W. and Edna G. Farley Robb. She grew up and attended school in Mancos. After high school Betty married the love of her life, Clarence Lyle Cox on March 13th 1965 and they made their home in Mancos. They had three boys: Terry, Rodney, and Tracy (Scottie). Betty and Lyle started Cox Conoco and Cox Ranches. Betty was an integral part of both businesses and their success due to several years of extremely hard work, sacrifice, and dedication and something she was extremely proud of. When she was forced to retire two years ago, what upset her most was that she would not be able to see the numerous friends she had made at the store. Somewhere along the way, her name was changed from Betty to "Grandma Betty". This was the name used by her grandkids and all other children that ever entered her home. For 2 generations she has been the "other lunchroom" for many Mancos High School kids and her clerks at the Conoco. Besides her husband of 47 years, Lyle, she is survived by her sons, Terry Lee Cox (Kelli Sperle Likes), Rodney Ray Cox (Ronda Lee Cox), Tracy Scott Cox (Jamie Bade), nine grandchildren, Tyrel, Lane, Kendra, Jacey, Wyatt, Kyle, Anna, Sidney and Cortni Cox all of Mancos. Also surviving are her two sisters, Gwynne Smith of South Jordan Utah, Carolyn Rose of Lewis Colo., and her brother Wayne Robb of Mancos, Colo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancos Fire and Rescue at PO Box 145, Mancos, Colo. 81328 and Hospice of Montezuma at PO Box Drawer 740, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
