BETTY ANN BERGER WOLCOTT A Celebration of Life Gathering for longtime Mancos resident Betty Ann Berger Wolcott will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8 at the Wolcott family residence, 39716 Highway 160, Mancos. Betty was born June 16, 1929 in Buffalo, N.Y. the daughter of William H. and Frances (Moon) Berger. She passed away at home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the age of 83. On December 16, 1950 in Buffalo, N.Y., Betty married Dean E. Wolcott and to this union four children were born. Betty received her Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University and her Masters of Science and Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She volunteered at the Mancos Library and the Mancos Welcome Center, and she helped to run the Good Samaritan Center in Mancos and was a member of P.E.O. Betty loved to ski, hike and bike not only here but abroad in her travel to Europe as well. She was a very active lady physically and mentally. Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and quilting, working in her garden and fly fishing. The most special activities were those which included her family. Betty is survived by her husband, Dean E. Wolcott of Mancos; daughter, Jennifer "Jenny" Thomas of Flagstaff, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Robin Wolcott of Mancos; grandchildren, Ben Wolcott and wife, Sensa of Mancos, Erin Wolcott of Wayne, Okla., Matthew Bingham of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Ryan Bingham, of Mesa, Ariz; and her great-granddaughter, Aurelia Wolcott of Mancos. She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Frances Berger; sons, Dean "De" Wolcott and Greg Wolcott; daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Wolcott; and brother, William "Bill" Berger.
