BERTHA LUCERO Funeral mass for Bertha Lucero, a lifelong Dolores resident will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 8 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Interment will follow at The Peoples Cemetery (also known as Old Dolores Cemetery.) Visitation has been set for Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with the Rosary following at 7 p.m. Bertha was born November 9, 1921 in La Posta, N.M. the fourth of nine children of Jesucita Medina and Marcos Garcia. She passed away at her home on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the age of 87. Bertha was married to Kenneth M. Lucero for 49 years. Four daughters were born to them. Bertha's family and her faith were her life and her passion. She will be greatly missed. Surviving Bertha are her daughters, Janette Archibeque and Jonathan Tucker of Glendale, Ariz., Kathy Ragland of Dolores, and Donna Lucero and Charles Cox of Thornton, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jason Archibeque, Doug Ragland of Dolores, and Rachel Robson of Cortez; four great grandchildren, Michaela, Akeisha, Ethen and Dylan; and two great-great grandchildren, Kevin and Aiden; by her siblings, Louis Martinez of Pueblo, Colo., Marge Short of Cortez, and Albert Garcia of Ogden, Utah. Preceding Bertha in death were four brothers and two sisters; her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Sharon; grandson, Kevin Archibeque; great-granddaughter, Makaila Greer; and her parents, Jesucita and Marcos. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bertha Lucero with the Dolores State Bank.
