BERT RAYMOND WOOD Funeral services for longtime Egnar resident, Bert Raymond Wood will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17 at the Dove Creek First Baptist Church. Royce Atkins will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Dove Creek Cemetery. Bert was born on Oct. 15, 1928 at Denver, Colo. the son of Hobert A. and Nellie Florence (Hyde) Wood. He passed away on Saturday, March 13 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home in Cortez. Bert was 75 years old. In 1948 in San Diego, Calif. Bert was inducted into the United States Marine Corp. He served his country during the Korean War. Corporal Bert Wood was honorably discharged at El Toro, Calif. in 1951. On May 25, 1952 in Dove Creek Bert married Beverly Ruth Daves. The Woods were very active in the Dove Creek First Baptist Church. Bert wished to be remembered, as a Korean War Veteran, who helped to build his church, was a Boy Scout leader, and who loved to fish. Surviving Bert are his wife, Beverly Wood of Egnar; his children, Dale Wood and wife, Mary Louise of Laramie, Wyo., and Tom Wood and wife, Vicki of Egnar. He leaves four grandchildren, Quincy Lee Wood, and Talia Marie Wood both of Egnar, and William J. P. Wood and Mary Elizabeth Wood both of Laramie, Wyo.; as well as his two brothers and sister, Bob Wood and wife, Pat of Albuquerque, N.M., Ed Wood and wife, Julie of Monticello, Utah, and Ruth Curtis and husband, Ken of Moab, Utah. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his grandson James Matthew Wood. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Bert Wood with the Southwest Colorado Region of the Rocky Mountain Chapter Alzheimers Association, 701 Camino Del Rio, Durango, Colo. 81301.
