BERNICE JUNE McMILLAN Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Bernice June McMillan will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery. Bernice was born February 7, 1939 in Lebanon, Colo. the daughter of Virgil and Bertha (Roelfs) McMillan. She passed away in Dolores at the Golden Years Retirement Home at the age of 71. Bernice attended grade school at the Lebanon School and graduated from Cortez High School. She went on to attend two years of college at Fort Lewis College. Bernice was a dedicated employee of the Cortez Journal for 28 years. She was a life member of the Church of Christ and belonged to Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75 Auxiliary. In her free time, Bernice loved to travel and draw. She had a great affection for dogs and cats. Surviving Bernice are her sister, Edna Parker and husband, Floyd of Lebanon, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Lorna Gift and husband, Tommy of Lebanon, Colo., Frank Edwards of Quartzite, Ariz., Earl Edwards and wife, Donca of Elizabeth, Colo., Michael Edwards and wife, Josie of Tulare, Calif., Donald Ray Parker of Denver, Colo., and by numerous other nieces and nephews. Preceding Bernice in death were her parents, Virgil and Bertha McMillan; her brother, Robert McMillan; and her sisters, Betty Jean McMillan and Juanita Allmon.
