BERNARD CAMILLOUS “BENNY” STRAMEL Bernard Camillous “Benny” Stramel was born on January 16, 1918 in Topeka, Kans. the son of Clem and Anna Marie (Gibler) Stramel. He passed away on Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. Benny was an avid sportsman. He played for the Brooklyn Dodger’s Farm Team before Pearl Harbor. He then went into the Army where he defended his country. Later, Golf became a sport Benny was very good at. At the age of 73 he won the Seniors Golf Tournament in Albuquerque, N.M. Baseball and Golf were not the only sports Benny had a talent for. Bowling was another. Throughout his life, he won many bowling tournaments in both Kansas and Texas. Surviving Benny are his son, Jim Stramel of Santa Monica, Calif.; his siblings, Ray Stramel and wife, Nadine of McCook, Neb., Eugene Stramel and wife, Loretta of Cortez, James Stramel and wife, Alice of Hays, Kans., Frank Stramel and wife, Rita Mae of Glen Elder, Kans., Irene Walters of Hays, Kans., and Rita Mae Schmidtberger and husband, Virgil of Lawrence, Kans. Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, N. Eileen Stramel; his second wife, Louva Brown Stramel; and two brothers. There are no services scheduled at this time.
