BENTON PARGIN WATTS SR. Funeral services for longtime Towaoc resident Benton Pargin Watts Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 24 at the Towaoc Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Towaoc Cemetery. Benton was born on June 5, 1960 in Cortez the son of Ben Pargin Watts Sr. and Irene Posey (Hammond) Hulligan. He passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango at the age of 51. Benton was gifted at making pottery. He enjoyed creating different pieces. In his free time, Benton liked fixing his Bronco, playing Tetris and other video games, and traveling. He loved cruising around taking in the sights. Surviving Benton are his wife, Cynthia (Dunlap) Watts of Towaoc; and his children, Mahalia Snow Watts of Towaoc, Benton Carlos Watts of Towaoc, Andrew Cuch Sr. of Towaoc, and Latisha Cuch of Santa Fe, N.M. Benton also leaves behind his siblings, Sandra Watts, Ben Watts Jr. and Jeannie Adams of Towaoc, Brenda Kaye Watts and Wayne Cuthair of Ignacio, Colo., Benjamin Pargin Watts Sr. and Trudy Ridley of White Rocks, Utah, Joyce Frost and Vernon Frost of Ignacio, Colo., Jody Hulligan and Johnathan Nez Sr. of Towaoc, Joe Hulligan Jr. of Towaoc; and his sister-in-law, Tina Laner of Towaoc; his nieces and nephews, Adrian Laner Sr., Phillip Laner Jr., Bendora Laner Wall and Cassandra Laner, all of Towaoc, Bryant Watts of Shiprock, N.M., Orlando Watts of Cortez, Christopher Watts and Bentley Watts both of Towaoc, DeRoy Watts and Paul Dutchie III both of Ignacio, Benjamin Pargin Watts Jr. of White Rocks, Utah, Manuel Frost of White Rocks, Utah, Devin Frost of Ignacio, Kendra Watts, Jackie Roy Pargin Watts Jr., and K'rene Watts, all of Towaoc; and by a large extended family. Benton was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Jackie R.P. Watts.
