Ben Nakai Begay

BEN NAKAI BEGAY Funeral services for Cortez resident Ben Nakai Begay will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 2 at Arriola Bible Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Ben was born July 15, 1924 in Aneth, Utah to Ben Nocki and Mary Ann (Nocki) Dinet. He passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the age of 88. Ben married Lucille Nocki Tso. He had many abilities and worked on the railroad, in the uranium mines, operated heavy equipment building roads and was a roustabout for the oil industry. Ben is survived by his children; Sarah Slowman, Virginia Etsitty, Janelle Salt, Ellison Begay, Julia Nakai, Roselyn Toledo, Marietta Brown and Richardson Begay; 66 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; six brothers; one sister; and one half-sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Dinet; wife, Lucille Begay; four children, Marie Smith, Wilson Begay, Nelson Begay, Evertte Begay; and two sisters.
