BARBARA JEAN MILLARD Funeral services for longtime area resident, Barbara Jean Millard will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 3 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Old Dolores Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Barbara Jean Millard lived to be 80 years old. She was born in Adel, Iowa on February 13, 1937 to Earl and Hazel Royer. She passed away on June 28, 2017 at Mercy hospital in Durango Colo. Barbara grew up in Guthrie Center, Iowa. After she graduated high school, she moved to Dolores, Colo. with a friend. Shortly after arriving she was introduced to Nathan Millard, whom she fell in love with and later married. From this marriage they had four children Lorna, Ben, Ollena and Myra. Since Barbara and Nathan loved children, they were foster parents to many, and Barbara babysat many of the neighbors' children. She enjoyed working for Montezuma County Housing Authority, and after many years of working there she retired. Barbara enjoyed going to Laughlin with friends and family, having family get togethers, her sheep and her farm and also putting together puzzles. Barbara is survived by two daughters, Lorna Crook and Myra Izer; and her son, Ben Millard; five grandchildren, Melisa and Travis Crook, Rachel, Nathan and Izaac Millard; along with three great grandchildren, Garrett, Bridgett and Hope Damron. Barbara is also survived by her two brothers, Amos and Laverne Royer; and a very special niece, Carol Weigel. Barbara is preceded in death by her daughter, Ollena; her husband Nathan; her sister, Ollena; and her brother, Arnold. Barbara was loved by many and will be missed by all.
