Barbara Ann Wolf

“A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take” Our dear wife and mother Barbara Ann Wolf passed with grace and beauty on July 13, 2007. Her courage and strength in battling her illness is matched only by her love of family and friends, her faith in God and her ability to find joy in every given day. Barbara was born in Evanston, Illinois to Raymond and Eileen Wiltgen on January 11, 1942. She spent her youth as a “city girl” but found her adventurous side when she married the true love of her life, Gerry Wolf on October 7, 1961. Deciding they wanted a calmer way of life for their growing family, Barb and Gerry left the big city to settle in Arvada, Colorado and a suburb surrounded by dirt. When the neighborhood grew beyond their liking and obscured their mountain view they decided to move the family to Dolores, Co. and a ranch house in the middle of an alfalfa field. This would be home for the next 35 years and no one could have loved the view of the mountains more than Barb. Raising their two active children along with mastering all the known and unknowns of farm life would prove to be a full-time job. Many times when she would find herself turning hay bales in the field or chasing stray cattle out of her garden you could count on Barb to utter, “Oh, if they could see me now” and laughing at what a country girl she had become. Barb had a way of putting everyone and everything ahead of herself, always wanting to do for others just to see them happy. Her quilting club was a true source of pleasure and she would have been swinging golf clubs every day if it wouldn’t have made her feel that she was neglecting her chores. The list of devoted and unconditional friendships she cherished is evidenced by the overwhelming love and support she received during the past few years of her declining health. She was an unwavering example of pride and dignity, strength and courage, love and inner beauty. While Barb will be missed beyond measure her family and friends are grateful for her peace. She is lovingly survived by her husband Gerry; daughter Stacey, her husband John and their children Jeremy and Kenna; son Heath, his wife Christine and their children Mckayla, Madison, Hailey and Hudson; brother Jerry Wiltgen and sister-in-law Nancy; niece Kate Lard, her husband Rick and their children Bradly and Cassie. Barbara was not a lady to fuss over herself and thus chose to exit this world quietly with no memorial service. Rather she asked that you remember her in your own special way and to carry with you the thought that your love and friendship were what made her every day worth living.
