Avalon Gay "Abbie" Davis-Parcel

May 24, 1936 — March 2, 2014

AVALON GAY (ABBIE) DAVIS-PARCEL Avalon Gay (Abbie) Davis-Parcel was born in Meeker, Colo. on May 24, 1936 to Jim and Ruth Wells. Abbie spent her youth in northern Colorado. She and her parents lived in Rifle, Craig and Rangely. Abbie graduated high school from Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyo. in 1954. During high school, she participated in swimming, rifle club and her true love, music and marching band. On December 30, 1962 Abbie was united in marriage to Don Davis. Don and Abbie were the proud parents of two daughters. They made their home in Rangely, Colo. where they raised their family. Abbie was a homemaker and a wonderful mama, but also worked as a County Court Clerk, and later for Chevron U.S.A. Although divorced, Don and Abbie remained friends until Don's death in 2005. In 1987, Abbie was married to Gerald (Jerry) Parcel. After their retirement from Chevron, Jerry and Abbie moved to Cortez to be closer to their daughters and grandsons. Abbie loved being outside, gardening and taking care of her yard. She also loved camping, fishing and spending time around a campfire. Abbie loved going to the casino with her friends, and winning the occasional jackpot was always a bonus, but it was spending time with her friend, Cathie, that she loved the most on those excursions. Another one of her loves in life were the many stray dogs who were blessed enough to find their way into mom's home and heart. She was affectionately called Grandma, G-ma, or Gram by one of her grandsons or adopted grandsons. She could always be found bundled up at a football game, a baseball game, and cheering and yelling at a wrestling match. She loved to attend every play, band competition, and concert that she possibly could. She was as proud of her six grandsons as anyone could possibly be, and the love between she and them was unmatched by any other love ever known. Abbie was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Delon (Ricky) Espinoza; her daughter, Diane (Ray) Fox; and six grandsons, Cade (Lauren) Fox, Derek (Mayra) Fox, Devin Fox (Breanna), and Zachery, Alex and Nicholas Martinez. She was also very blessed with seven great grandchildren, Ryder, Jackson, Elijah, Reagan, Aizlin, Aiden and Malakai. She had a wonderful relationship with her Lord and Savior and was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church. Services for Abbie will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 at St. Barnabas of the Valley Episcopal Church in Cortez.
