AURTA LYNETTE "ARTIE" LICHLITER Funeral services celebrating the life of Aurta Lynette "Artie" Lichliter, a lifelong resident of Cortez, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 14 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Sunday evening at Ertel Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Aurta passed away peacefully the evening of January 9, 2013 in Farmington, N.M. She was born on May 20, 1935 to John Arthur "Art" and Reva Leta (Armstrong) Lichliter in Cortez. Aurta attended Mildred school and graduated from MCHS in 1953. Aurta worked in the propane gas business all of her working career. One of her greatest pleasures in life was playing fast-pitch softball. She was the pitcher on the team and played until she was 49. Aurta was able to see a lot of the country by playing in softball tournaments. Aurta was preceded in death by her father and mother; and older brother, Duane. She is survived by her brothers John Lichliter and wife, Nadean of Farmington, N.M., Troy Lichliter and wife, Lyn, and Ron Lichliter and wife, Audrey Lynn of Durango; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was a treasured sister and favorite Aunt.
