Ardith May Barrett Fiorenzo

May 9, 1931 — January 30, 2009

ARDITH MAY BARRETT "ARDIE" FIORENZO Ardith "Ardie" Fiorenzo died January 30, 2009 at the home of her sister in Dove Creek. She was born May 9, 1931 in Cortez, Colo. Her parents were A.V. "Buss" Barrett and Opal May (Tracy) Barrett. She was named Ardith May Barrett. This was during the Depression and the family of four moved a lot to find work. All the moving was fun to little girls. One summer was spent in California following fruit to harvest. They lived in their car, slept on the ground and cooked over campfires. It was a magical time new places, new friends, and spare time spent panning for gold in streams. Eventually they moved back to Dove Creek to stay. Ardith completed school here and moved to Phoenix where she attended Beauty School. She joined the Air Force and did far more traveling. She met another Airman named Carlo Fiorenzo, fell in love and married him. They, too, moved back to Dove Creek, then to Phoenix, then to Dallas, Texas and finally back to Dove Creek. They had two sons, Russell Thomas and Kelly Dean. Kelly died at the age of three. Ardie and Carlo were very proud of their service to their country. They made sure to fly the American flag on all official days. She was a wonderful cook and delighted in cooking great Italian meals for large groups. She loved opera music and reading. She had a complete collection of Nancy Drew books. After Carlo's death in 2007 she spent nights with her sister, Ramona. She enjoyed the comings and goings of a big family. Her grand nephews and nieces were very dear to her and she was very dear to them. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. Ardie was preceded in death by her parents, her son and her husband. She leaves her son, Russ; sister and brother-in-law, Ramona and Bob Johnson; and her nephews, nieces and their families.
