Anna Pauline Johnston A celebration of life for longtime Cortez resident Anna Pauline Johnston will be held at 10 a. m. on Tuesday, October 3 at First United Methodist Church of Cortez. Inurnment will be at Cory Cemetery in Orchard City, Colorado at a later date. Pauline the daughter of William and Luella Weaver was born July 5, 1930, in Austin, Colorado. She passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at her home with family by her side at the age of 87. Surviving Pauline are her loving husband of 63 years, James Johnston of Cortez, CO; her children, Marcia Johnston-Walden (Steve) of Golden, CO, Donn Johnston (Vivianne) of Westminster, CO, Mary Beth Acott (Kirk) of Cortez, CO, and Ann Valdez (Manny) of Franklin, TX; her grandchildren Amy Johnston, Preston Johnston, Cole Acott, and Taggart Valdez; step-grandchildren, Aeron Clason (Sean), Kayla Acott, and Tell Acott; many nieces and nephews; and her sister Lois Loftus. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and two sisters. Pauline was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church; she enjoyed singing in the choir and other volunteer activities including Hopes Kitchen and the Thrift Store. She served 18 years as the laboratory secretary at Southwest Memorial Hospital where she was called mom. She also volunteered at the Cortez Cultural Center and was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi. She especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
