Angelita C. "Angie" Garcia

ANGELITA C. “ANGIE” GARCIA Memorial mass will be held for longtime Cortez resident Angelita C. “Angie” Garcia at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 2 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. The Reverend Joseph L. Gallegos, C.R. will officiate. A Rosary has been scheduled for Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Angie was born on February 20, 1915 in Cedar Grove, N.M., the daughter of Agustin and Estefanita (Montaño) Chavez. She passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Angie loved to crochet and play bingo. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed beautiful flowers. Surviving Angie are her children, Mary Montaño and husband, Gusman of Canjilon, N.M., Julia Quintana and husband, Charles and Armando Garcia and wife, Cheryl, all of Cortez, and Gabe Garcia of Dolores; her siblings, Fidel Chavez of Sterling, Colo., and Maxine Martinez of Rio Rancho, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Prudencio Garcia; and her siblings, Ferminio Chavez and Tony Cotinola.
