ANDY JOE FRIZZELL SR. Graveside services for longtime Cortez resident Andy Joe Frizzell Sr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21 at Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Marvin Graves will officiate. Military honors will be provided by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Andy was born on April 27, 1928 in Fluvanna, Tex, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Lee (Weemes) Frizzell. He passed away on Friday, November 17, 2006 at his home in Cortez at the age of 78. From 1946 to 1949 Andy served his country in the U.S. Navy. On March 10, 1951 in Clovis, N.M. Andy married Myrtle Marie Marberry. The couple celebrated 49 years of marriage before Myrtle’s death in 2000. Surviving Andy are his children, Daphne Hinton and husband, Darrell, Andy Frizzell Jr. and wife, Sharlene, Billye Morgan and husband, John, Bruce Frizzell and wife, Jerri, Jeff Frizzell, Ethel Frizzell, Brandi Frizzell, and Houston Frizzell and wife, Lori all of Cortez; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and his sister, Angie Lavender of Odessa, Tex. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle; and his daughter, Denise Weller.
