Andrew F. Harris Jr. Jan. 19, 1921 – Aug. 12, 2006 Andrew F. Harris (Andy), 85, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006. He was born in Dolores, CO on Jan. 19, 1921, to Andrew and Leila Harris. Andy was an air traffic controller with the FAA, starting in Alaska in the 1950’s and spending over 20 years at the Farmington Airport. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 9th Air Force in Europe. Andy was an avid fly fisherman and cribbage player and was very handy as he built two cabins on his place in Colorado. Andy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Pat. He is survived by his four children, Tap (Frances) and Carol Sims (Mike), all of Farmington, John of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Barbara of Austin, Texas. His grandchildren are Bradley and Kate Sims and Scott Cowman. He is also survived by his sister, Dee Steninger of Denver, Colorado. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 15 at the Elks Lodge in Farmington. A reception will follow. A graveside services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at the Summit Ridge Cemetery in Dolores, CO. A reception will follow at the Ponderosa Restaurant in Dolores. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
