Andrea Jane 'Annie' Silas

Andrea Jane Silas (Annie) was born on November 20, 1960 to Herbert Silas Sr. and Florence Cuthair Bancroft Silas in Cortez, CO.
As a child, Annie and her siblings did a lot of horseback riding and helped their parents with sheep herding and cattle. She liked to be active outdoors. She attended church and numerous revivals with her mother, Florence.
Annie attended Mesa Elementary School, Cortez Junior High and three years of Montezuma High School. She completed the eleventh grade and began employment at Ute Mountain Ute Recreation in Towaoc for forty years. Annie was a productive employee, always on time and quick to get tasks completed. She played a variety of sports while employed at the Ute Mountain Ute Recreation. She enjoyed cershaing, country dancing, giving away Afghans at birthday parties, and care taking for plants, and she loved to cook, whether it was in a house or in the mountains. Every year she helped with roundup and branding of cattle in Pine Crest.
At the age of 20 years old Annie became a mother to her oldest son, Nathaniel Taylor and had four other children, Ambermarie Beecher (Elkriver), Benny Watts Sr, Christopher Watts, and Pelon Taylor.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Silas Sr and Florence Cuthair Bancroft; her siblings, Herby Silas, Lucas Silas, Cynthia Silas, Marijayne Hight-Kay; and her grandson, Damion Taylor. She is survived by her children, Nathaniel Taylor, Ambermarie Beecher (Elkriver), Benny Watts Sr, Christopher Morgan, and Pelon Taylor; her grandchildren; and her great grandchildren.
