Funeral Mass for Cortez resident Amy R. Salinas will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg, Tex. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery in Mission, Tex. Rosary services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel in Mission Tex. Amy was born March 3, 1918 in Gonzales, Tex. the daughter of Emilio and Concepcion (Ozuna) Rodriguez. She completed her journey and the angels of heaven have opened the gates and have gathered her in their arms to receive the Lord. Amy passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 98. Surviving Amy are her sons, Roland Salinas (Mary) of Cortez, Colo., and George Salinas (Alice) of Michigan; four grandchildren; and a large extended family consisting of siblings, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her loving husband, Ben A. Salinas; and by her son, Roy Salinas.
