ALVINA ROSETTA “SKIP” MCCULLEY Alvina Rosetta “Skip” McCulley was born on December 8, 1929 in Prichett, Colo., the daughter of Hervy Hudson and Hazel May (Terpening) Hopper. She passed away on Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Vista Grande Inn at the age of 77. Skip worked at the Bar-D-Wranglers and for the Humane Society Thrift Store in Durango. She loved time spent dancing at the Senior Center and she had a talent for making wine. Skip had won numerous ribbons for her wine. A great-grandbaby is on the way and Skip was anxiously awaiting its arrival. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by many friends. Surviving Skip are her sons, Bruce and Mark McCulley, both of Cortez; her granddaughters, Crystal Oveson and husband, David of Lewis and Jackie McCulley of Cortez; her great-grandchildren, Isiah Peña, Aden Hood, and Baby McCulley that will arrive soon; her companion, Mel Houx of Summit Ridge; her siblings, John Hopper of Arriola, Vera Tate of Pueblo, Colo., and Verda Baxstrom of Cortez; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack McCulley; and her siblings, Veda Wilson, Loyal Hopper, and Delbert Hopper. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
