Alta Mae Phillips

Funeral services for Cortez resident Alta Mae Phillips will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Cortez, CO. Pastor John Clark will officiate. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery in Dolores, CO.
Alta was born August 26, 1923 in Dolores, CO the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Luyza (Tibbits) Small. She passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at her residence at the age of 98.
Surviving Alta are her children, Leslie A. Phillips Jr. (Ardella Martinez) of Cortez, CO, Frances Beasley (Dennis) of Farmington, NM, Robert Phillips of Cortez, CO, Kathrine Nowlin (Steve) of Dolores, CO; her siblings, Judy Byers of AZ, Billy Small of Farmington, NM, Hazel Goodrich of TX; eight grandchildren, Angelina Shelby (Ray), Jason Nowlin, James Beasley (Melissa), Jessie Kimble, Heather Roe, Audrey Harrison (Jonas), Matthew Phillips (Heather), Michael Phillips (Julie); and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Alta was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Leslie A. Phillips Sr.; and her siblings, Gene Small, Frank Small, Frances Small, and Patsy Palmer.
