ALTA MAE DERRICK Funeral services for Dolores resident Alta Mae Derrick will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 16 at Ertel Memorial Chapel with Reverend Michael Stoker officiating. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Alta was born on April 17, 1944 in Cortez, the daughter of Earl Ray and Bessie M. (Crouse) Boren. She passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M. at the age of 63. In 1960 Alta married Cecil “Bud” Trone in Naturita, Colo. sharing 25 years of marriage before his death. For many years Alta worked as a cook for the schools. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, shopping, drives in the country, and playing games with her family. She was baptized into the Baptist Church. Surviving Alta are her three children, Steve Trone and wife, Sarah of Peoria, Ariz., Sheryl Ramsey and husband, Bret of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Scott Trone of Cortez; and four grandchildren, Cameron Trone, McKenzie Trone, Bret Ramsey Jr., and Brian Ramsey. Her sister, JoAnn Spangler and husband, Billy of Nucla, Colo.; brother, Jimmie Boren and wife, Robbie of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles also survive Alta.
